March High Performance Special
Spring time is upon us and the flying weather is finally starting to improve.  We thought we would use the month of March as an opportunity to get prepared for some fun summer flying.  If you are looking for a great cross country aircraft, the Cessna 182 can not be beat.  Carry 4 people and bags for the weekend at 145kts.  Get to the beach or the mountains in about 2.5 hrs. 

The FAA requires a high performance endorsement to act as PIC in an aircraft with over 200hp. At 230hp, the Cessna 182 will require the endorsement.  In order to help some of our pilots transition over to the 182 from the 172, we thought we would offer a March High Performance Special.  For the month of March only, any club member who would like to earn a High Peformance endorsement can rent N6197Z for the reduced rate of $180/hr.  Sorry, this rate applies only to pilots working on the endorsement and will only last through the end of March.  So if you have the desire to fly a bigger, faster airplane now is a great time to get started.

Lasergrade tests going up
The FAA is mandating tighter security control measures for written testing. What it means for everyone is that tests are going up to 150 dollars starting March 1st

Rendezvous Flyout
Based on the fact the Mon the weather is looking crummy for the day. And alas the fact that Rendezvous is not open on Mon a command decision was made to move it to Tue. The game plan is to depart Superior sometime after lunch on Tue and fly to M01 (General Dewitt Spain AIrport) near the banks of the might Missip and in the outskirts of Memphis. There will be someone from the aiprort there until 1730 so you can either get topped when you land or there is a self serve pump available 24/7. Current price for fuel is 3.81 There is access to the terminal for restrooms and weather after hours so when we return from the restaurant we can finish preflight and get current weather which should be nice.

Flyout date set
Based on replies, it looks like Mon the 25th will be the day for the Memphis flyout.

First Flyout of the Year ?????
Any interest of going to Memphis for ribs either Sun the 24th (next weekend) or Mon the 25th. They are closed on Sun. We can go fo the evening or you can spend the night wandering down berale street. This would be a good primer for the New Orleans run in the planning stages now.

If youv'e never had dry rub ribs from Rendevous you have missed out on some of the best ribs on the planet. Some say Corkies is better but I don't think so.

If your working towards your instrument or commercial this would be a way to do something productive with your training. Bring the wife ,girlfriend, partner or if you need your favorite instructor. Private Pilot Ground School Set For January 18th

January 18th marks the start of a Private Pilot Ground School Class. Classes will meet each Monday and Wednesday evening from 6:30 until 9:00. (No class on Wednesday, January 27) Get all the information you need to pass the FAA Private PIlot Knowledge Exam (written) and prepare for the Oral Exam part of you Check Ride. Cost is $395.
