RYY - Runway Improvement Project UpdateThe Contractor began work on Monday July 14th. During this first week the contractor has been working during the daytime with no runway impacts.
The first night-time runway closure is scheduled for Monday July 21st from 8 pm to 6 am local.
The following is what you can expect to see at the NOTAM for the Runway closure: Beginning July 21st Runway 9/27 will be closed from 8pm to 6 am local Monday through Saturday until further notice.
If the contractor cancels a night time closure, we will cancel the existing NOTAM and reissue the NOTAM with a new beginning date for the following day and the runway will be available for the night.
Sunday nights are not expected to be closed but the contractor does have the right to work on a Sunday night if necessary, such as to make up time for bad weather.
I will continue to keep you updated as we progress. These updates will also be posted on the airport website:
www.mccollumairport.org.
Please check NOTAMS for the latest information. FYI-FAA requirements restrict Notams from be posted more than 72 hours in advance of an event.
The FAA has visited the airport to evaluate using Taxiway A as a temporary runway during the 21 days of full-time runway closures expected in November. No determination at this time.
